AuthentiCity’s workshops and presentations are all tailored based on pre-consultation to address specific needs and circumstances. Deliverables include an audio PowerPoint of all presentations.

AuthentiCity Founder Greg Baeker and Senior Associate Gord Hume are widely regarded speakers who present regularly at conferences and meetings across Canada and internationally.
Greg Baeker’s presentations draw on more than 30 years of experience in the cultural sector and nationally-recognized leadership in municipal cultural planning. Greg’s presentations connect leading ideas with concrete tools and practices.
Gord Hume’s speeches and presentations bring a deep knowledge of the role of creativity and culture in rebuilding local economies combined with the ‘real world’ understanding of how municipalities work and how to get things done.

Launching Your Municipal Cultural Plan
Undertaking a municipal cultural plan represents a major commitment of time and money, particularly for small and mid-sized municipalities with limited resources. This comprehensive and tailored workshop is designed to help individual municipalities build the knowledge and capacity needed to launch and achieve success in municipal cultural planning.
Some municipalities will find that the workshop enables them to undertaken the plan internally with advice and guidance. Others will proceed to retain a consultant to undertake the plan. A workshop brochure is available with more details on these workshops.
New Joint Workshop: Culture-Led Economic Development
Over the past year, AuthentiCity has partnered with Millier Dickinson Blais and the Martin Prosperity Institute at the University of Toronto on creative economy analysis and strategies in Eastern Ontario, Southwestern Ontario, and Durham Region. Creativity, culture and quality of place were found to be powerful economic drivers in all three studies.
Millier Dickinson Blais is one of Canada’s leading economic development consulting firms and is partnering with AuthentiCity on a one-day intensive workshops on Culture-Led Economic Development. The workshop will draw on findings from the three studies and on leading practice across Ontario and Canada.
A leadership role on all three project was played by the Prince Edward County Economic Development Office and all reports are available on the Offices’s website.
Council and Municipal Staff Presentations
One of the challenges many municipalities face is communicating the importance of municipal cultural planning and cultural mapping to Council members staff. Municipal cultural planning is about integrating culture across departments. Success requires building a shared base of knowledge and understanding among Council and staff across all departments.
